Metabolic Syndrome

The Harbinger of multiple diseases.
So you thought this was just a bouquet of little irritating problems come all at once. The bouquet of Metabolic syndrome comprises of a cluster of conditions viz
Increased blood pressure
High blood sugar
Excess body fat around waist
Abnormal cholesterol or triglyceride levels
— that occur together.
These are early warning signs indicating imminent risk of  heart disease,  stroke and diabetes. There is little awareness about Metabolic syndrome and knowing this fact is itself a  step towards healthy living as
“Prevention is better than cure .”
It is therefore imperative that one is able to recognize this condition and take proactive steps before any catastrophic disease strikes.
The American Heart Association (AHA) and the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) identifies the presence of three or more of the undermentioned conditions as the indication of Metabolic syndrome ::
a. Raised Waist circumference–The cutoff limit for males is 40 inches and for females is 35 inches.
b. Raised Triglycerides — A value greater than 150 mg/dl in blood lipid profile is an indicator of risk.
c. Reduced HDL–HDL is considered good for health.Value less than 40 mg/dl in Men and 50mg/dl in Women is an indicator of risk of Metabolic Syndrome.
d. Raised Blood pressure –BP readings greater than 130/85 mm of hg is an indicator of risk of Metabolic Syndrome.
e. Raised Fasting Blood Glucose–A raise in fasting blood sugar  beyond 100 mg/dl an indicator of risk of Metabolic Syndrome.
Whilst the presence of any three or more of the above symptoms indicate Metabolic syndrome, even having one or two symptoms could increase the risk. The main reason for having metabolic syndrome is physical inactivity, obesity and ageing etc.
A sure fix method of  combating this problem is by aggressive lifestyle changes that can delay and prevent the onset of many serious diseases. Generally 200-300 minutes of physical activity spread over 3 to 5 days a week is recommended.it is advisable to start with little and get better each day.
To conclude, Metabolic Syndrome is an early warning sign that needs to be looked into. A wake up call for one to reboot and kick-start their lifestyle into a healthy one. Metabolic syndrome thus cannot be ignored.

Simple Neck exercises are very useful for correcting thyroid disorder. As the thyroid gland is situated at the base of your neck… These neck exercises Increase blood flow around this gland thereby providing enough oxygen for repair and keeping them healthy. Neck exercises could be done twice a day for visible results.

Jalandhar Bandh is a great way to keep our thyroid gland always healthy. It’s simple too.
Sitting straight at the base of your spine, Inhale deeply, perform the Chinlock by neck flexion, gently touching the chin to chest.Hold your breath in chinlock for a 5 to 10 seconds, then release chinlock by lifting up the chin and exhale. Repeat 11 times.

Shank Mudra Meditation.
Assume the Shank Mudra and focus on your breath with closed eyes for a few mins.

Siting at the base of your spine , bring both your hand in front of your chest.Encircle your left thumb with the fingers of your right hand.Let the thumb of the right hand touch the middle finger of the left hand.
Calm your mind and Chant ‘Om’ 21 times.

Activate the Thyroid point on your palm and get active.
Just beneath your thumb on your palm, the puffy area represents the thyroid gland of your body.
Press this area while doing Kapal Bhanti Pranayama for 10 to 15 mins.

Along with regular exercise and yoga , detoxifying becomes a very important part in improving thyroid functions also aiding in weight loss. So pamper yourself at the spa or at your local gym.
Get a full body massage followed by Sauna or steam bath 🛀 … Once or twice a week. This could be heaven for everyone 😊😊

Thyroid Cure

Sitting at the base of the neck , this butterfly shaped gland called the Thyroid gland often gets naughty , leading to hormonal imbalances in the body. Fatigue, hair loss, swelling on face, unexplainable sudden weight loss or gain , irritable nature, mood swings, depression could be few of the symptoms. If not treated on time , it could become more hazardous.

⏺Late Night Cups is a NO. It could interfere with the sleep pattern and lead to stress.
⏺Don’t reuse green tea bags.Wet tea bags are use to microbial infestation.Never use it more than two times.

However, this could vary depending on different variety and quality of the Green Tea.

12 Steps to my Cup of Happiness

You may have every ingredient to be happy in life…. Yet you may not be happy.

That makes your day Gloomy.
Makes you feel low… Rejected… Suicidal…
Everything around you may seem useless… You may start feeling detached from your near and dear ones because of this obsession.
Understand it ,that this is not sorrow…
Real sorrow kills…
You’ve made this look like a sorrow and want to kill yourself.
It’s how you look at it… How you VIEW it…
Happiness or Misery… The choice is yours.
MANY WOULD SAY…
Stop expecting! Leave it behind …Look ahead… Move on…. Live…
All this may sound BOGUS !!!!#@$##
But Believe you me…
ITS NOT DIFFICULT!
ITS EASY! DAMM EASY!

N I’ll share how I got over a serious obsession that changed my life completely.
Initially, I watched several videos and listened to audios that I thought could change my life.
After days of crying n wasting time…
One night @12 o clock🕒 I sed to myself…
I will SMILE… I will be HAPPY…. NO TEARS…NO SADNESS…LIFE IS GOOD…

My Strategy 🎲I ASKED MYSELF…
WHAT IS IT THAT TAKES ME ON THE DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY TRACK??
Social Media was the first answer.( Disconnect till such time you can’t take charge of things. )

STEP 1- I deleted FB intsa apps from my 📱
STEP 2- I STOPPED looking for Sympathy. SHOW that you are strong and that nothing can shake your inner being to death.
STEP 3- I Live minute by minute to keep myself busy. I would plan my next day such that I don’t get a minute to think about my obsession.I chanted sacred mantras. Even if thoughts ran in my mind, I did not let them stop me from remembering GOD. CHANTING ANYTIME OF THE DAY as soon as I FELT I’M ABOUT TO GET RESTLESS AND GET THAT ANXIETY ATTACK , I WOULD GRAB ONTO MY CHANTING BEEDS N BEGIN.Om chanting & Soham Chanting have been my favourites.
Gayatri Mantra … Hanuman Stotram also contributed in giving me immense strength n will power.
STEP 4 – Pranayama session (20 mins)
Mudra Meditation
Walking atleast 1 HR ▶2 Hrs
STEP 5 – DETOX YOUR BODY… FEEL LIGHT. ▶DRINK 15 GLASSES OF WATER💧 EVERYDAY ,GREEN TEA, NUTS .EAT FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES.
▶BATHE WITH SEA SALT IN WATER TO REMOVE NEGATIVE ENERGIES.
▶USE AROMA OILS TO CALM MIND.
LAVENDER N JASMINE ARE SOOTHING .
▶OIL YOUR HAIR… GO TO PARLOUR EVERY 20DAYS. Love yourself.
STEP6 – WHILE DOING HOUSEHOLD WORK, KEEP THE SACRED Mantras Being sung all around. THEY are very helpful to keep negative energies around you, at bay.
STEP 7-FOCUS on Family/husband/child.
STEP 8- Study Books, Write Blogs, not in lonely places but in public places, Like ur yoga class, a coffee joint ,Park etc.
STEP 9- SET ACHIEVABLE GOALS. UNREALISTIC ONES MAY AGAIN LEAD TO ANXIETY ATTACKS.They need not necessarily be fitness orientated.Cleaning a room or your Garage could be a useful one.
STEP 10- USE THE SECRET. IMAGINE GOOD AND BEAUTIFUL THINGS. IMAGINE GETTING YOUR DIGNITY BACK. IMAGINE THE OBSESSION BECOMING MEANINGLESS.
STEP 11- MEET FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS. CALL THEM UP, BE IN TOUCH WITH PEOPLE WHO GIVE YOU POSITIVE ENERGY. GO FOR FUN OUTINGS OR WATCH INSPIRING,COMEDY MOVIES.
STEP 12 – 30 DAYS COMPLETE??? REMEMBER !!
THEY COME BACK ONCE YOUVE MOVED ON.
MAKE YOUR OBSSESSION “”A REMINDER””
A reminder of the hardships you’ve gone through.And that you never deserved even a bit of all that. U will realise yourself, It was easy,The moment you decided to look things differently.

Yoginess anywhere#this time@my car.

My yoginess makes me feel happy and healthy💁 Try this and awaken the yogi in you 🙌

When you are a complete yogaholic and you haven’t been able to spare out a minute during your crazy day to spend a few moments on your yoga mat…here’s What you could do….😊

The day was crazy…and I got no time to do my yoga practice… I also knew… I will get no time during the rest of the day as well…as I had a completely packed schedule …I did this…👇

I was waiting at the bus stop to pick up my son and by chance I reached 20 minutes early… knowing I will not get time once I’m back home… I decided to make use of these 20 munutes.

Lucky to be on empty stomach👧 around 2 pm, I adjusted myself on the back seat of my 🚗…and began with a few ●Neck Rolls●followed by a few ●Elbow Circles●Seated Side bending● and ●butterfly pose●… joyfully warming up my body☺ This was followed by ●kapal bhanti -5 mins● & ●Bhastrika-3 mins●Now whattt???as i wondered …came to my mind ●Vajra Asana● assuming the vajra asan I next performed ●Anulom vilom -3 mins●&● Brahmri Pranayama-2 mins● Next released from vajra asan and did some ●Forward and back toe movement ● & ●Ankle rotation●Ended my 4 wheeler session with ●Om Chanting●😊🙏
Felt absolutely fantastic 🌞🌞🌞🌞that I did it… inspite all odds…. 😍There were one or two who were staring at me from a distance…😆 Little did they know… I was nourishing my body ,mind and soul✌😇
And when you are receiving so much …Why would one bother to see what’s happening to the rest of the world…😎
Fitness is an attitude…💪
How much ever you do…feel happy , nourished & rich doing it…
Something is better than nothing…even If that something is as little as this….
DON’T KEEP WAITING FOR THAT DAY WHEN YOU WILL GET A COMPLETELY UNDISTURBED HOUR FOR YOUR WORKOUT.
SOME DAYS YOU COULD GET LESS TIME ….SOME DAYS YOU COULD HAVE MORE TIME…

Embracing every morning with a beautiful smile and a deep inhalation, my day brightens in my little yoga hub with my ever energetic yoga companions, waiting for me to deliver to them a yogic hour .Yes…I feel absolutely beautiful being a Yoga Teacher. Having mastered several modern fitness regimes from leading organizations like Reebok, Pilates Institute of America, BFY, AHA etc, I eventually found my calling in the traditional Indian Wisdom of Yoga.

My tryst as a wellness coach began eight years ago, with a desire to loose the stubborn fat that was lovingly clinging around me. So I stepped into the studio to join the fitness classes to lose weight. It was sheer coincidence that a Fitness Trainer batch was about to begin there. I instantly changed my decision and signed up to learn the science behind loosing weight. This implied being empowered to help myself and many others to stay fit ‘n’ healthy for the rest of the life. Soon as a trainer I would have cheerful mornings and evenings with my aerobics students flowing with my choreography on the latest aerobics music and then rushing to multiple gyms helping folks use weights and equipment. The pace and students ever increased .till one day. when a minor mishap left me with a badly injured ankle and I was advised rest for a month. A Setback! Now what?

My only GOAL was to pass this sedentary period without adding a single pound. I began thinking out of the fitness manuals and designed my own set of rehabilitation routine for my injured lower body. Simultaneously working hard enough for my Upper body. I practiced a lot of yogic breathing techniques and yoga asanas that were showing remarkable result… Soon I successfully recovered from my ankle injury… and was stronger than before… I development a love for yoga…and wanted to learn more of it.. I would join different yoga classes to feel nourished… and also switched to delivering yoga sessions instead of aerobics.. It wasn’t about what was better….and not what the world was doing… It was about what I was passionate about and what suited me more… I learnt ” My Mind…My Body…My Rules,Explore…Feel…And then configure… ”

My life as a Yogi is a quest much beyond the realms of asanas. I have discovered Pranayama magnifies your life force energy, while Dhyana (meditation) uplifts you spiritually. This ancient practice harmonizes mind, body and soul by offering mental, physical and spiritual benefits. Initially I needed to blend Yoga with modern fitness regimes but over the past two years people are actually seeking its traditional pristine format. This largely was due to the stellar efforts of our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji , which is his finest gift to humanity.

As enshrined in the Yoga Sutra – “tapahswadhyayeshwarpranidhanani kriyayogaha” meaning self discipline self study and devotion is yoga in form of action. Whatever be your objective, get yourself a Yoga mentor and get going. Being too much result oriented often leads to break in consistency. So begin with small steps…Keep adding to your steps… Progressively keep growing… Set backs are quite a blessing… Welcome them with a positive attitude.

Weight Loss # Workout # let’s do it

~Fitsvilla ? Fitness Challenge 4~
This was quite a Challenge for me.
The 5km walk in less than 50 mins and 50 situps was a cake walk though….The challenge I faced was in 50 squats n 500 jumping jacks.
On day 1… having completed my challenge… I was still ok…
But on Day 2 #MY SORE QUADS# delighted me☺…. ~SORE~… The most satisfying pain…I had earned it… not all are blessed with it… It meant I’ve worked hard….Day 2 was a little strain on my quads (muscles of our thighs).And the 500 jumping jacks would literally suckkk alll the breath outta me?.But motivation from all my fit and strong fitness friends kept me going…I WILL NOT GIVE UP ON THIS TILL MY DAY 5 ….was something that I was very CERTAIN about.
Day 3’s squats were scary… With the muscles sore….challenging me
GLORIOUSLY.
BUT I DID NOT GIVE UP…
Day 4 I was awarded….This was quite a miracle.. Muscle soreness VANISHED…. I WAS STRONGER…
DAY 4 AND DAY 5 Were  EASY…. ☺
Or may be I GOT STRONGER?
I personally experienced this famous quote
~”The pain you are in today,turns into your strength tomorrow.”~
My muscles adapted to the 50 squats n 500 jumping jacks by day 5.
Lesson learnt *
~Challenges are difficult in the beginning…
Most difficult in the middle and Glorious at the End ?. …leaving you Strong and happy~
And also that  ….
~The End is always a new beginning~

Few more observations During this challenge…
When you are on a journey to self improvement….and completely drenched in it…There will be haters…They will try to demotivate you…They’ll  laugh at you…
Assume things about you…Copy you…. And try to fight you… but at the end

●A clarity in your mind that you don’t have to be part of the RAT RACE…and your PERSISTENCE  will help you WIN !
